Netflix show rankings out: Korean survivalist drama 'Squid Game' biggest grosser

Netflix's 'Squid Game' is the talk of the town at the moment, as the show currently sits at number one, on the streaming giant around the world.

The dystopian South Korean show which debuted less than two weeks ago on Netflix, is raking in viewership globally at a very rapid rate and could soon cross current ranking record holder Bridgerton with over 82 million viewers.

Traditionally, Netflix ranks the popularity of its originals by counting how many people watch a title for at least two minutes in the first 28 days of release. Squid Game is currently ranking as the number one show on the platform in several countries, according to data shared by Netflix.

The South Korean drama follows a group of people who are invited to risk their lives in a survival game with a huge prize at the end.

'Squid Game' is the first Korean original series ever to top spot on Netflix, so naturally, fans are asking if there is a second season in the works.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has admitted that he doesn't have any extensive plans currently and may return to making movies before doing a follow-up of the show.
