From Queen to COO, Claire Foy is all set to star as Sheryl Sandberg in new TV series on Facebook

Claire Foy is on a very interesting journey, she's heading from Buckingham Palace to Silicon Valley!

The 2-time Emmy winner will play the role of Facebook big shot, Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg in an upcoming TV series called "Doomsday Machine".

The show is based on Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang’s New York Times bestselling book "An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Domination".

What's more, the drama series is being written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and author Ayad Akhtar, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Claire Foy is best known for playing Queen Elizabeth II in two seasons of Netflix series "The Crown". She has also featured in films such as "First Man", "Unsane" and "The Girl in the Spider''s Web".

The show will focus on the relationship between Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg, it will also chronicle the obstacles Facebook faced on its relentless quest for growth.

The series will cover Facebook's actions during the 2016 US presidential elections, up to more recent revelations about its business, including The Wall Street Journal expose on Facebook's ‘XCheck’ program, which reportedly allowed high-profile users, including former US President Donald Trump, to skirt content moderation rules on the platform.

Casting for Zuckerberg and the other major players in the series are yet to be announced.
