‘Taraak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ producer Asit Modi and others booked by Mumbai Police; no arrests yet

‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmaah’ producer Asit Kumarr Modi, who has been making headlines for mentally and sexually harassing an actress on the show, has now been booked by the Mumbai Police under sections 354 and 509 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A case has been filed against him, operation head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj based on a complaint by an actor on the show. However, no arrests have been made yet.

News agency ANI reported, ‘Powai Police has registered a case against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Modi, operation head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj under sections 354 and 509 of the IPC based on a complaint by an actor of the show. No arrests have been made in this case so far: Mumbai Police.’

An actress in the popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmaah’ had quit the show after 15 years. Following her exit, she made serious allegations of mental and sexual harassment against the show's producer, Asit Kumarr Modi.

She also filed a complaint against producer Modi, Project Head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj of alleged sexual harassment at the workplace.

However, Asit Modi denied the allegations and called them baseless. He said he would take legal action against the actor for trying to defame him.
