‘Ponniyin Selvan’ actor Jayam Ravi and wife Aarti announce separation; seek privacy during difficult time

Tamil actor Jayam Ravi took to social media on September 9 to announce that he and his wife, Aarti, are parting ways.

In a statement shared in both Tamil and English, Ravi explained that the decision was made after much thought and consideration. He also requested privacy and understanding during this challenging period.

Speculation about their separation arose a few months ago when Aarti removed photos with him from her Instagram account.

Ravi shared a long post on his X page with the caption, ‘Grateful for your love and understanding.’

He began his message by expressing his commitment to being open and honest with his fans and the media.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I must share a deeply personal update with all of you,’ the statement read.

He wrote, ‘After much thought, reflections and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involves (sic).’

Jayam Ravi also requested people to respect their privacy.

‘In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumours, or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private (sic),’ he posted.

The 'Ponniyin Selvan' actor expressed his priority and wrote, ‘My priority has always remained the same - to continue bringing joy and entertainment through my films to my dearest audience. I am still and will always be your Jayam Ravi - who is cherished by all of you throughout my career and as an actor who is dedicated to my craft and commitment to showcase the best of my talent. Your constant support means the world to me and I am grateful for the love you have showered on me over the years (sic).’

Earlier this year, Jayam Ravi and Aarti sparked headlines amid rumours of their impending divorce.

The couple, who tied the knot in June 2009, are parents to two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.
