'Leo' makers move Madras HC seeking permission to hold 4am shows in Tamil Nadu

Thalapathy Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo' has been making headlines for the past few weeks. The film is gearing up for a grand release in theatres in just three days. Earlier, Seven Screen Studio, the production house, requested the Tamil Nadu state government to permit theatres to hold early morning shows for 'Leo'. The government passed an order stating that theatres can hold one extra show for six days starting October 19.

As per the order, the first show can start at 9 am in Tamil Nadu and end at 1.30 am. However, in other states, 'Leo' will release as early as 4 am. Following the demand, the producers of 'Leo' have sought the court's permission to hold early morning shows.

On October 16, the producers of 'Leo' filed a writ petition at the Madras High Court seeking permission for early morning shows (4 am and 7 am) on October 19 and 7 am shows from October 20 onwards to October 24. Justice Anita Sumanth, who heard the case today, adjourned it to October 17.

Earlier this year, early morning shows were cancelled for all films after the celebrations resulted in a casualty during the screening of a popular Tamil movie in Chennai in January 2023. Since then, theatres haven't been screening films before 9 am.
