Veteran actor Michael Caine has opened up about his retirement from acting. In an interview with The Telegraph, he hinted that &lsquo;The Great Escaper&rsquo;, which will be released in October, might be his last film.
Caine said he is 90 and was struggling to 'walk properly'.
&lsquo;I was so happy to do it. I just loved the character of Bernie. I thought he was incredible, and it&rsquo;s so beautifully written... With Covid-19 and all that, I hadn&rsquo;t done a picture for three years, and I thought I was finished. And I suddenly did it &ndash; and had such a wonderful time. I am bloody 90 now, and I can&rsquo;t walk properly and all that. I sort of am retired now,&rsquo; he told The Telegraph.
Michael Caine is considered a British film icon who has appeared in more than 160 films. He is known for films such as The Italian Job (1969), and Battle of Britain (1969), Get Carter (1971), The Last Valley (1971), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), The Eagle Has Landed (1976), A Bridge Too Far (1977).
Speaking about filming for &lsquo;The Great Escaper&rsquo;, Michael Caine said that it was a physically challenging role for him to play. He said, &lsquo;They gave me a very good walking stick. And I was able to do scenes that needed that. I&rsquo;d just do them once, and then fall over. But just one take and that&rsquo;s it. Forget it.&rsquo;
Michael Caine will star alongside Glenda Jackson in this film based on the true-life story of a British World War II veteran, who 'broke out' of his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary D-Day commemorations in France, in June 2014. The story is based on that of Bernard Jordan, who was 89 years old when he made his journey to France.
Glenda Jackson died in June 2023, about nine months after she finished filming her part. The film was announced in February 2021 and is directed by Oliver Parker, and written by William Ivory. It is scheduled for release on October 6, 2023.

There were many film people but among them Shahrukh especially gave an excellent example by coming up to the stage. He added, &lsquo;Music director Anirudh made us sing the song in the background score of the film Jawan that very night before we went to New York because Shahrukh Bhaisaheb had a strong desire that we should sing it.&rsquo;
Kailash Kher&rsquo;s recent remarks about Shah Rukh Khan went viral. He revealed in an interview that a song sung by him for the film &lsquo;Chalte Chalte&rsquo; didn&rsquo;t make it to the film&rsquo;s album. He ended up saying, &lsquo;Bade aadmi bhi choti harkat kar sakte hain.&rsquo;
Now it looks like the stars have buried all the hatchets.

Actor Akhil Mishra, best known for his role in Aamir Khan starrer &lsquo;3 Idiots&rsquo;, died in an accident on September 20. He was 58. His wife Suzanne Bernert confirmed the news to Indian Express.
A friend close to the couple told the publication that the actor was unwell due to blood pressure-related issues. He was on a stool in the kitchen trying to do something, when he reportedly fell down and hurt his head. He was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors tried to save him but he died after a few hours.
At that time, Suzanne was in Hyderabad shooting for a project. She rushed back home upon receiving the news.
Akhil Mishra played the librarian Dubey in &lsquo;3 Idiots&rsquo;. He has also been part of films like &lsquo;Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi&rsquo;, &lsquo;Well Done Abba&rsquo;, &lsquo;Calcutta Mail&rsquo; and Shah Rukh Khan&rsquo;s &lsquo;Don&rsquo;. Over 4,000 screens, including popular chains like PVR, Inox, Cinepolis, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, WAVE, M2K, Delite, and others, will celebrate National Cinema Day.
Last year, more than 65 lakh moviegoers visited cinemas on National Cinema Day, making September 23 the highest-attended day of the year at the theatres. Most of the shows were sold out and the houseful boards returned to the ticket counters.
The tickets were priced at Rs 75 and the collections touched around Rs 48 crore across films of various languages.
This year, the latest blockbuster 'Jawan' is also estimated to benefit from the weekend in mid-October.

&lsquo;She has been very upset with Atlee because her role was chopped in the film. Also, Deepika&rsquo;s (Padukone) character was elevated and Nayantara&rsquo;s part was significantly sidelined,&rsquo; a source said.

Nayanthara made her Bollywood debut with Atlee&rsquo;s &lsquo;Jawan&rsquo; in which she played Shah Rukh Khan&rsquo;s love interest and left the audience and critics impressed with her performance.
While everyone assumed that the South sensation would be seen in more Bollywood projects, that might not be the case.
According to Hindustan Times, Nayanthara has not been happy post the release of &lsquo;Jawan&rsquo;.
&lsquo;She has been very upset with Atlee because her role was chopped in the film. Also, Deepika&rsquo;s (Padukone) character was elevated and Nayantara&rsquo;s part was significantly sidelined,&rsquo; a source told the publication.
Deepika Padukone made a special appearance in the action thriller.
&lsquo;It was not a cameo at all. Jawan was almost made to look like an SRK-Deepika film. Nayanthara is the leading actor down south, and hence, she was not happy with the treatment of Jawan. And that can be the reason why we might not see her in a Bollywood project, at least not anytime soon,&rsquo; the source added.
Is that why Nayanthara was not part of any of the promotions, before or after the release of the film? The sources clarified that Nayanthara never goes to film events. She follows a no-promotion policy for her films because of her bad experiences in the past when she was misquoted and because she feels that her job is to act and not get involved in promotional activities.
&lsquo;Jawan&rsquo; has breached the Rs 900 crore mark at the worldwide box office.
