‘Jailer’ box office day 1: Rajinikanth starrer records highest opening for Kollywood in India in 2023

Rajinikanth starrer ‘Jailer’ had a fabulous opening in theatres on August 10. As per Sacnilk.com report, the black comedy-action film collected around ₹44.50 crore nett in India for all languages, with the gross collection crossing ₹50 crore.

The report states that ‘Jailer’ collected ₹52 crore gross on day one as per early estimates. This includes ₹23 crore from Tamil Nadu, ₹11 crore from Karnataka, ₹5 crore from Kerala, ₹10 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and ₹3 crore from the other states.

The film has reportedly recorded the biggest opening of 2023 in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

It recorded the highest opening for any Tamil film in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan tweeted, ‘Superstar #Rajinikanth's #Jailer takes BIGGEST ever opening of 2023 at TN, AP, TS, KA, KL, OS, ROI Box Office from Tamil Cinema. Comfortably SURPASSES this year releases like #Thunivu, #PonniyinSelvan2 and #Varisu. #JailerFDFS #JailerReview B-L-O-C-K-B-U-S-T-E-R opening day records created across the world (sic).’

The film marks Rajinikanth's first collaboration with director Nelson Dilipkumar. It also features Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar in special roles.

The Nelson directorial also stars Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu and has Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff in short but pivotal roles.

On the release day, fans were seen bursting crackers, grooving to dhol beats, and pouring milk on Rajinikanth cutouts outside theatres.
