American actor-producer Michael Douglas praised the efforts of PM Narendra Modi for his contributions to film production and finance at the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa.

When discussing the festival's significance and PM Modi's leadership, Michael Douglas remarked, ‘I believe this festival's essence and beauty lie in its representation of 78 foreign countries. It reflects the strength of Indian filmmaking, renowned globally. I believe you're in capable hands, and it's just the beginning.’

He also praised Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur for his efforts.

Talking to the media, he said, ‘As I mentioned I do think that under minister Anurag Thakur as well as Prime minister Modi the last few years we've seen more money put into the production and financing of films, it's been a very successful time.’

He emphasized that films have the power to unite people regardless of race, religion, or gender.

‘I mean with all the different languages we speak movies share the same language, audiences from wherever you are in the world can understand what's going on, movies bring us closer together and I think that's a very important aspect of it,’ he shared on the role of movies in bringing different cultures together.

Michael Douglas, accompanied by his wife, acclaimed actor Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their son, made a notable appearance at IFFI 2023. A viral video captured the family's arrival at the festival, escorted inside amid tight security measures.
