‘Queen of Tears’ surpasses ‘Reply 1988’ to become 3rd highest-rated show in tvN history and #1 on Netflix

‘Queen of Tears,’ starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, has become one of the most popular K-dramas on tvN. This romantic comedy has exceeded expectations, not only in South Korea but also with global audiences. On April 7, the show had a strong return for its second half, achieving its highest ratings yet and outperforming all other shows of the day.

The 2015 K-drama ‘Reply 1988’ was beloved by fans and starred a talented cast, including Hyeri, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Park Bo Gum. However, this new drama has emerged as a frontrunner, achieving the third-highest ratings of any tvN drama. ‘Queen of Tears’ has surpassed ‘Reply 1988’ and is now only behind two other hugely successful dramas, ‘Crash Landing on You’ and ‘Goblin.’ These two dramas are the only ones to have surpassed the 20 percent viewership benchmark.

'Queen of Tears' has achieved the highest Sunday ratings of any program. The drama depicts a married couple facing burnout and divorce, then reuniting after overcoming obstacles. The episode aired on April 8 garnered an average nationwide rating of 19.0 percent, as reported by Nielsen Korea.

‘Queen of Tears’ has claimed the top spot in Netflix's non-English category, garnering 4.3 million views this week and becoming the most-watched show in this segment.

‘Beauty and Mr. Romantic,’ a new romantic drama on KBS 2TV, which previously held the highest ratings during the weekend, experienced a slight drop in viewership in its latest episode, averaging 18.0% nationwide for the night.

TVN's ‘Hide’ concluded its first half with higher-than-normal average viewership, reaching 5.0% for the show's sixth episode.
