It involves 'Seven' and ‘Nevertheless’ fame Han So Hee, ‘Reply 1988’ actor Ryu Jun Yeol and idol-actor Hyeri. The controversy began on March 15 when rumours emerged online about Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol being in a relationship. Someone reportedly spotted the two actors vacationing together in Hawaii. On the very same day, Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol’s agencies issued separate statements which neither admitted nor denied their relationship. Their agencies however confirmed that the two are in Hawaii.

Hyeri gets involved, shares cryptic post

As the rumours spread online, ‘Girl’s Day’ idol Hyeri, who happens to be Ryu Jun Yeol’s ex-girlfriend for more than six years, dropped a cryptic post on her Instagram story. She posted a photo of a scenic spot and wrote, “This is funny.”

Han So Hee reacts to Hyeri’s post amid criticism

The post did not go well with Han So Hee, who ‘lost her cool’ took to her Instagram to post a picture of a dog holding a knife and wrote, “Explain this situation… I don’t like people who have a significant other, I don’t lead them on while saying we’re just friends, I don’t take an interest in them, I don’t develop a relationship with them, and I don’t get in the way of other people’s relationships. I like the program ‘EXchange,’ but there’s nothing like that in my life.” [The literal Korean title of the dating show “EXchange” is “transfer love”—a phrase that means moving onto a new relationship before ending your last one.] Making it evident, that her post was in response to Ryu Jun Yeol’s ex, Han So Hee added, “I also find this funny.”

Besides, the ‘Nevertheless’ actor also said that she would apologize to Hyeri without naming her for her now-deleted Instagram story, explaining that she had made the post after she “temporarily lost all reason and behaved rudely.”

Ryun Joon Yeol’s agency releases statement

After Han So Hee’s blog post, Ryu Joon Yeol’s agency released an official statement confirming his relationship with the actor, which also emphasised that their relationship began only after his previous relationship was over. The agency also urged everyone to respect the privacy of their artist.
