Byeon Woo Seok's airport security comes to national assembly, Incheon airport chairman speaks out

'Lovely Runner' Byeon Woo Seok recently found himself in hot waters over the security team's violations at the Incheon International Airport. After a brutal social media scrutiny against the actor, President of the Incheon International Airport Corporation Lee Hak-ja was questioned by the National Assembly over the security team's actions. For the unversed, the security team of the actor was seen shining a flaslight at fans at the airport in order to protect his personal details. However, ordinary citizens were also present during the incident who later called out the alleged mistreatment on social media.

During an audit by the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Committee, Rep. Jeon Yong-gi of the opposition Democratic Party questioned Lee Hag Jae, the president of Incheon International Airport Corporation, in the Byeon Woo Seok's airport controversy. Addressing the issue, Lee said, "This was an unforeseen situation. No private security firm has acted so absurdly or excessively in the past."

He added, "This is the first time an incident of this nature has occurred since the airport’s inception, and we did not foresee or prepare for it."

Lee mentioned, "Hundreds of celebrities pass through Incheon International Airport each year, but there has never been a case where a private security firm has overreacted as they did this time," adding, "No private security firm has ever acted so absurdly."

Byeon Woo Seok's airport controversy

Byeon Woo Seok departed on July 12 to attend the Asia Fan Meeting tour in Hong Kong. As he entered the airport arena, he was greeted by hundreds of thousands fans who had just came thus far to catch a glimpse of him. When the actor was seen showing his boarding pass to the airport authoroties, his security personnel shined flashlights on the faces of airport users, which led to a massive social media outrage against the actor and his staff. It was even reported that as Byeon entered the lounge, the security personnel inspected the passports and boarding passes of other lounge users.

On the work front, Byeon Woo Seok recently concluded his fanmeet, Summer Letter, after the success of his drama 'Lovely Runner'. Previously, the actor appeared in K-dramas such as 'Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency', 'Moonshine', 'Strong Girl Nam Soon', 'Record of Youth', and more. Some of the movies he worked on include 20th Century Girl, and Midnight Runner, among others.
