BTS’ Suga may not enlist as active-duty soldier for South Korean military service, agency responds

BTS member Suga may not enlist as an active-duty soldier for South Korea's mandatory military service but is likely to be a public service worker due to his left shoulder surgery in November 2020.

BTS member Suga may not enlist as an active-duty soldier for South Korea's mandatory military service, but is likely to be a public service worker. According to reports, this decision came due to his left shoulder surgery in November 2020.

BigHit Music, BTS' agency, has now reacted to these reports. As per Soompi, BigHit Music said, ‘BTS members plan to serve in the military sequentially according to their own plans. It is difficult to confirm the artist’s personal information.’

According to news agency Yonhap, Suga 'will carry out his military service as a social service agent'. It also said that he will be working as a social service agent and not an active-duty soldier. Further details are under wraps.

The group’s agency had earlier released an official statement, saying that ‘Suga also felt that it was important for him to restore himself to good health to prepare for his mandatory military service as well as his post-service musical career. After extensive discussion with the company, the decision was made to undergo the surgical procedure.’

Earlier this year, the members of BTS announced that they will enlist in mandatory military service and delay in this will cancel their application. Jin entered the military training base today, December 13, and reports of Suga being the next to join the military were being circulated.
