South Korean girl group BLACKPINK has added yet another achievement to their impressive resume. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose's inaugural studio album, The Album, has clinched the prestigious gold BRIT certification in the United Kingdom, the British Phonographic Industry confirmed. For the uninitiated, the BPI's certification criteria require an album to sell 100,000 units to attain the prestigious gold status.

BLACKPINK received BRIT Gold Certification

BLACKPINK has achieved an exciting honour in the United Kingdom. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has honoured the girl group's inaugural album, The Album, with an official gold BRIT certification. The latest feat. holds a special significance for BLACKPINK as it's the first time a girl group earned this certification in the UK.

According to the BPI's certification requirements, albums earn gold status after selling 100,000 units, whereas singles must sell 400,000 units to be certified gold. BLACKPINK has become the first female K-pop artist to get an album-certified gold in the United Kingdom.

About BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK is no stranger to international accolades. Since their debut in August 2016 with the single album 'Square One' which featured smash hit songs 'Whistle', and 'Boombayah', the girl group has been on a roll. Following the unprecedented success of their first album, the quartet collaborated with many international artists, such as Cardi B and Selena Gomez, proving their global dominance.

The group renewed their contracts last year with their agency, YG Entertainment, but chose to part ways with the label for their individual activities. However, despite the renewal of their contract, the girls are yet to announce their comeback.
