Zendaya scores first big solo hit as ‘Challengers’ mints $15 Million, Tom Holland shows support

Zendaya starrer ‘Challengers’ is receiving a positive response at the box office. The film which was released on April 26, has become her first big solo hit as the steamy tennis drama has earned $15 million in only three days.

Even though the actor has been part of several superhit films including ‘Spider-Man’ and the recently released ‘Dune 2’, ‘Challengers’ was the first film for the actor which she carried on her own talent and stardom.

Ticket sales from large format screens made up about 40% of the opening weekend collection. The film minted $ 6.2 million on its first day and went on to gain momentum on the weekend. The worldwide collection of the film has reached $25 million. The film is easily headed to become the highest-grossing film domestically by midweek. This will mark a major milestone for the 27-year-old actor’s career.

Tom Holland supports Zendaya’s film

Meanwhile, it’s not only the audience who are loving Zendaya’s film, her beau Tom Holland also supported the film by adding it to his weekend plans. Despite his busy schedule, Holland shared his plans to watch ‘Challengers’ starring his lady love. His caption won the hearts on Internet as he wrote, “I know what I’m doing this weekend.”

Zendaya reacted to her boyfriend’s post with an emoji in the comment section. The official Instagram account of the film also commented, “Superheroes on and off the court.”

Besides Zendaya, the film stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. The sports romance drama follows the story of Tashi (played by Zendaya), who turns into a coach for her husband. Her husband (played by Mike Faist) finds himself standing right opposite Tashi’s former boyfriend who’s also his best friend. The trio navigates competition and a love triangle of the tennis players.
