Zendaya reveals Serena Williams' reaction to her performance in sports drama 'Challengers'

Zendaya is currently busy promoting her upcoming film, 'Challengers', which will see her portray the role of a tennis star. Recently, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Zendaya revealed tennis legend Serena Williams' reactions to watching her performance in the sports drama. Serena had attended the Los Angeles premiere of the film.

Serena's reaction to Zendaya's performance

Recalling her interaction with Serena Williams, Zendaya said, “She (Serena) was like, 'I know there definitely weren't real (tennis) balls. She knows. She's the best of the best. She did say that it was great considering that I had never touched a tennis ball before.” The actor added that she apologised in advance for her tennis skills.

How Zendaya's family reacted to the film

The R-rated rom-com is Zendaya's boldest project yet. Recently, in an interview with Jimmy Kennel, the 'Dune' star shared that she warned her family before watching the film. She said, "Well, they know it’s a Rated-R movie. OK, so I was like, you know, walking into this, 'If you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.’ But I forewarned them. It was honestly my favourite part of the night because I’ve seen the movie many times.” She further added, “I know when the scenes are coming, so when those scenes were happening, I was just watching my family because they were behind me, so I just watched them the whole time; it was hilarious.”

'Challengers' is slated to release worldwide on April 26, 2024.
