‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ crosses $100mn mark at US Box Office, ties with ‘Shang-Chi’

In a year of uncertainty and doubt, Sony’s 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' crossed $100 million in just five days at the pandemic-hit US box office, joining ranks with Disney’s 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings'. 'Venom 2' broke multiple records, becoming one of the fastest films to reach that milestone since the pandemic began.

Marvel’s 'Black Widow' is also in the $100mn club, but 'Venom' broke Black Widow's pandemic record, raking in $90.1 million, just on the opening weekend.

Director Andy Serkis who recently appeared on a podcast, confirmed that speculations about a third film in 'Let There Be Carnage' were true. He said that, while there hasn't been any official word from Sony, actor Tom Hardy and writer Kelly Marcel are already brainstorming ideas.

In the sequel to the 2018 film, Tom Hardy reprises his role as the journalist and symbiote-host Eddie Brock. He takes on serial killer Cletus Kasady played by Woody Harrelson, as he escapes from prison after becoming the host of Carnage, a chaotic spawn of Venom.
