Timothée Chalamet reveals first look as young Willy Wonka: 'Suspense is terrible'

Actor Timothée Chalamet dropped a little treat for his fans on Sunday, by revealing the first look of himself 'Willy Wonka', the young inventor and chocolate genius, as he prepares to shoot the musical based on the life of Roald Dahl's eccentric chocolatier.

Chalamet posted a photo of the eccentric character on Instagram from the upcoming origin story film. He wrote, "The suspense is terrible; I hope it will last …"

Warner Bros. and the Roald Dahl Story Co. had announced back in May that the 25-year-old Chalamet will star in "Wonka." While plot details are being kept under wraps, the Warner Bros. prequel will reportedly explore how Willy Wonka became an illustrious candymaker. The production is billed as a musical, with reps for Chalamet confirming that the actor will be singing and dancing in the film.

Paul King known for films like "Paddington" and "Paddington 2", will direct the film, a script he wrote with Simon Farnaby.

Willy Wonka was created by well-known author Roald Dahl. The character debuted in the 1964 novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” which followed a poor boy named Charlie Bucket who wins a golden ticket to tour the wondrous and terrifying chocolate factory run by Wonka. The book has been adapted twice to the screen, with Wilder as Wonka in 1971 and Johnny Depp in the role in Tim Burton’s 2005 film.
