Taylor Swift set a new MTV Video Music Awards record with 30 moon men on September 11. She surpassed Beyoncé’s solo record of 26 wins, though Beyoncé has 30 wins overall, including with Destiny's Child and Jay-Z.

Swift also made history as the first artist to win the Video of the Year award five times.

During her acceptance speech for the Video of the Year award, Swift talked about directing the video and thanked everyone involved, including Post Malone and ‘my boyfriend Travis Kelce,’ who was ‘cheering and woo-ing from across the studio during the shoot,’ she said.

‘I want to thank him for adding that special touch to our shoot because it’s a memory I’ll always cherish,’ she added.

Swift continued by expressing her gratitude to the fans, saying, ‘Thank you for making my life what it is, for turning the Eras Tour into what it’s become, and for shaping ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department’ as it is,’ she told the audience.

‘That’s all thanks to you guys,’ she concluded.

Before exiting the stage, Swift echoed a message from an Instagram post she made the night before, urging people to vote in the upcoming election.

‘If you’re 18, please register to vote. It’s a crucial election,’ she told the VMAs crowd.

Leading the nominations with 12, Swift received major awards, including artist of the year and multiple honours for her and Post Malone’s ‘Fortnight.’ The track won Song of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Video of the Year, among others. She’s the only artist to have won Video of the Year three years consecutively.

Beyoncé was nominated for Song of the Year for her hit ‘Texas Hold ’Em,’ the lead single from her country album Cowboy Carter.

‘Texas’ competed against Swift’s ‘Fortnight,’ Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us,’ Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso,’ Teddy Swims’ ‘Lose Control,’ and Jack Harlow’s ‘Lovin on Me.’
