Taylor Swift’s father accused of assaulting paparazzi in Sydney, probe launched

Pop singer Taylor Swift, who has been in the headlines for her ‘The Eras Tour’ and romance with beau Travis Kelce, is this time in the spotlight for a controversy. An Australian cameraperson has alleged that he was assaulted by the singer’s father after her Sydney concert.

What are the allegations?

The alleged victim, veteran photographer Ben McDonald alleged that a man punched him in the chops. "I didn't know who he was," said McDonald. "But I looked at photos and saw him holding hands with Taylor, and it was her dad," he added.
While the police do not usually identify the accused or accuser, a law enforcement source and accuser McDonald, both told AFP that the man was Swift's dad, Scott Swift.

Australian Police’s statement

Australian police have told AFP that they were in investigating a 71-year-old man for the alleged assault of a photographer in Sydney in the early hours of Tuesday. The accuser identified the man as Taylor Swift's father. Police refused to comment on whether Scott Swift had been contacted or questioned in advance of the group's departure.

Taylor Swift’s team make counter allegations

Meanwhile, making the counterclaims, a spokesperson for Taylor Swift accused two persons of pushing, grabbing and threatening the singer’s team. "Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water," the spokesperson told AFP.

The global pop sensation is currently busy with her worldwide blockbuster ‘Eras Tour’. She is due to head to Singapore this week for further tour dates.
