Taylor Swift receives honorary doctorate from New York University

American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has received a doctorate degree in fine arts from New York University. She has been bestowed with the title, Doctor of Fine Arts.

The singer donned a purple gown and a cap for the ceremonial event. She also delivered a speech at the 2022 all-school commencement ceremony in the varsity.

Swift extended her gratitude to her family and friends. "I know that words are supposed to be my “thing,” but I will never be able to find the words to thank my mom and my dad, and my brother, Austin, for the sacrifices they made every day so that I could go from singing in coffee houses to standing up here with you all today because no words would ever be enough," she said in her speech.

She also urged the students to make the most of their choices. "Life can be heavy - especially if you try to carry it all at once... all the grudges, all the updates on your ex.... You get to pick what your life has time and room for." the 32-year-old said.

Ahead of her graduation ceremony, Taylor took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her getting dressed for the special day.

For the unversed, Swift never went to college and received homeschooling in junior as well as her senior years.
