The letter, supported by organizations Oxfam America and ActionAid USA, urgently calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel. The artists expressed their concern as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives in the conflict.

The open letter, posted on the official website artists4ceasefire.org, pleaded for immediate de-escalation, emphasizing the sacredness of all lives regardless of faith or ethnicity. The letter highlighted the catastrophic death toll, with more than 5,000 people killed in the past week and a half. The artists urged President Biden and the US Congress to take action before more lives are lost.

Selena Gomez, who had recently announced a social media break, took a stand in support of Gaza despite the controversy. She stated her refusal to support the ongoing violence and expressed her heartbreak over the situation. Selena emphasized the need to protect all people, especially children, and called for an end to violence.
