Selena Gomez addresses Israel-Palestine war: ‘I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t’

Hollywood pop icon Selena Gomez, who has been away from social media, is the latest celebrity to share her thoughts on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. She shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, condemning the violence against innocent civilians, especially children.

Gomez also wrote that she believes her post will not make a difference despite being one of the most followed people on the Internet.

‘I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world. People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific. We need to protect ALL people, especially children and stop violence for good. I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t (sic),’ she wrote.

Israeli troops and tanks attacked Gaza's main northern city from both sides on October 30 three days after they began a major ground offensive in the Palestinian enclave that has stirred more international appeals for civilians to be protected.

Israeli officials claim that the initial Hamas attack and ongoing rocket fire from Gaza have claimed more than 1,400 lives since October 7. Meanwhile, Health officials in the Hamas-controlled enclave claim that relentless Israeli artillery and missile strikes have left 8,300 people dead.
