Rihanna skips Met Gala 2024 due to flu; fake AI pics go viral

Singer Rihanna, a consistent attendee at Met Gala, surprisingly pulled out of the 2024 event at the last minute as she has reportedly contracted flu and is staying home. Although disappointing, fashion enthusiasts are being treated to a consolation prize: incredibly lifelike AI-generated images of what Rihanna's Met Gala outfit could have looked like are circulating online.

A fake photo, garnering over 2.2 million views, depicted Rihanna in a form-fitting dress with green floral details on the bodice, nearly resembling the real deal. However, the diva's fans were not deceived.

Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky have become a beloved IT couple at the Gala, further adding to the anticipation of their appearances.

Last year, the couple adhered to the Karl Lagerfeld-themed dress code. Rihanna stunned in a dramatic white Maison Valentino gown with a rosette-covered top, while Rocky paid homage to Lagerfeld in a high-low red plaid pleated kilt layered over bedazzled baggy jeans.

Rihanna was among the first to confirm her attendance at the Gala, announcing it ahead of other celebrities. She revealed her platinum pink locks at a Puma Miami collaboration party with A$AP Rocky, where the couple spent the weekend.

‘I’m actually keeping it real simple this year,’ she told Extra during an interview on April 27, that took place at a launch event for Fenty’s Beauty Soft’lit Foundation.

The ‘Diamonds’ singer shared that she's deciding between two outfits for the Gala, noting they're ‘very simple-ish’ compared to her past looks for the event.

The ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ theme celebrates delicate vintage designs, with co-chairs like Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya. The event on May 6 has been a star-studded affair. Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Kim Kardashian are also among the celebrities who attended the ball this year. The three style icons arrived at the gala dressed in gorgeous ensembles.
