French President Emmanuel Macron officially opened the Paris Paralympics on August 28, with a vibrant ceremony.

Held at the historic Place de la Concorde, a key site of the French Revolution, it marked the first outdoor opening ceremony in Paralympic history. Thousands of differently-abled athletes celebrated the beginning of the 'Paralympic Revolution.'

Legendary actor Jackie Chan captivated the crowd by carrying the Paralympic flame ahead of the opening ceremony. Thousands of fans greeted him as he held the flame through the city.

Jackie Chan took selfies and posed for photos with his admirers, savoring the moments before the star-studded event.

The internet was delighted to see Jackie get the honour of carrying the Paralympic torch. One of them wrote, ‘Jackie Chan (mind blown emoji) old is gold (gold medal emoji).’ Another commented, ‘Aww miss seeing him on screen.’

‘I hope I can have that energy at 70,’ said a third person.

‘My childhood hero (heart eyes emojis),’ read a fourth comment. Many others called him a ‘legend’ and inserted fire emojis in the comment section.

The 70-year-old martial arts icon, a long-time supporter of the Olympic and Paralympic movements, joined other prominent figures like French actress Elsa Zylberstein, dancer Benjamin Millepied, and rapper Georgio in the Paralympic Torch Relay, which featured 12 torches crossing the city and ending with the lighting of the final cauldron at Paris City Hall.

The Parade of Nations took place at the historic Place de la Concorde as the city embraced the Paralympic spirit. Chan, known for his acclaimed films and iconic stunts, has a special connection to Paris, especially with his memorable ‘Rush Hour 3’ scene on the Eiffel Tower. His dedication to performing his own stunts earned him a Guinness World Record and widespread admiration.
