Paris Fashion Week: Amber Heard says, 'stand up for yourself and speak your mind'

Hollywood actor Amber Heard took the ramp by storm at the Paris Fashion Week this week as the brand ambassador for L'Oréal, as the iconic French cosmetic brand celebrates its 50th anniversary.

But addressing the media, ahead of the show, Heard used the platform to open up about the issues that she's passionate about.

Heard shared what women's empowerment means to her. She said, "Empowerment is being able to live your truth, to stand up for yourself, to speak your mind. Empowerment goes beyond just feeling safe. It goes beyond feeling beautiful. Empowerment to me is really living your truth, being able to live your truth, to stand up for yourself, to speak your mind. That's empowerment."

Amber Heard is a spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris' campaign to encourage women and men to speak up, if they experience or witness harassment on the street.

"The Stand-Up initiative is that it starts in the street and it's addressing something like street harassment, which I think is something we as women especially have almost come to take for granted as just normal. And you know, if women and girls all over the world cannot feel safe just walking on the street, how do we expect to carry demands or expectations of equality and respect into a workplace or into a home?" she said.

The 35-year-old Hollywood star has been an active advocate of women’s safety and rights, especially after her divorce with actor Johnny Depp, whom she has sued for domestic violence, slapping a $50 million lawsuit on her former husband.

Depp challenged her allegations with a $100 million countersuit. The case heads to trial in a US court in 2022.
