Oppenheimer box office day 1: Christopher Nolan is off to great start; here's how much it earned

Christopher Nolan’s highest anticipated film ‘Oppenheimer’ was released in theatres on July 21 and received excellent reviews for its compelling storytelling and exceptional performances.

As per reports, the film has earned Rs 13.50 crores in India, making it one of the highest-grossing Hollywood films of 2023, surpassing Tom Cruise’s 'Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning: Part I', which earned Rs 12.50 crores on its first day.

According to the trade website Sacnilk.com, ‘Oppenheimer’ earned Rs 13.50 crores in India and won the biggest box-office battle against Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’. The box office clash was termed as ‘Barbenheimer’.

‘Oppenheimer’ is a biopic based on the New York bestseller ‘American Prometheus’ which features the life and challenges of physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer, also known as the Father of the First Atomic Bomb. His discovery ignited the biggest danger in the history of mankind.

‘Oppenheimer’ features Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, and Kenneth Branagh in lead roles.
