Nicki Minaj arrested at Amsterdam airport over ‘drugs possession’, UK gig postponed

Nicki Minaj was reportedly arrested last night in Amsterdam for carrying drugs. The popular rapper was on her way to perform a concert in the United Kingdom when the said arrest happened.

The rapper went live on Instagram and documented the entire incident. The video clips of her Instagram live soon went viral on social media. In the viral clip, an airport officer is heard saying that he wants to take Minaj into custody for the possession of drugs. The rapper could also be heard arguing that she did not have any contraband. “I’m not going in there. I need a lawyer present,” Minaj can be heard saying as the authorities asked her to get inside the vehicle and stop the recording. She goes on to ask, “Oh, so I’m under arrest?” In response, the officer says, “Yes.” The viral clip ends at Minaj stepping inside the police van. The pop star said that the marijuana found in her baggage belonged to one of her security guards.
According to reports, despite the uncertainty following her arrest, Co-Op Live, opened its doors.

Minaj's concert postponed

Thousands of fans waited at the venue while some chanted, “Free Nicki Minaj.” The organisers had to announce that the show would be postponed to another date. Promoter Live Nation said the performance will be rescheduled and tickets will be honored. “Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible,” the promoter said in a statement.

Later, the rapper took to her official X handle to disclose that she was sitting in a jail cell for 5-6 hours before arriving in Manchester. In her long note, she claimed that the entire incident was an attempt to sabotage her concert. She assured her fans to make up for the cancelled concert and wrote, “I’ll find a way to not only make up the date with the performance but I’m going to create an added bonus for everyone that had a tkt for this show. Promise.” Minaj also said that she would still be performing at the 2nd Manchester show on the 30th and Birmingham tomorrow.
