Dev Patel's directorial debut, 'Monkey Man', is a smash hit. While the film's India release remains uncertain, international fans who watched the film in theatres can't stop raving about the action thriller on X (formerly known as Twitter). However, a minor faction was disappointed by the slow pace of the film in the first half.

'Pulse-pounding action and full of emotion!'

Lauding Dev Patel's vision, one user wrote, "This movie ripped. Hard. It’s not a John Wick clone, it is its own really special thing. Give Dev Patel whatever money he needs to make his next project. Can’t believe they had to fight for this movie to see a theatrical release; it was made for the theater #MonkeyMan"

Another user added, "The more I think about #MonkeyMan, the more I love it. What a passionate film. You can tell every single person who worked on this loved it. THIS is the type of stuff I go to the movies for!!!"

A third netizen hailed Patel as a legend, and added, "I think it would be very rad if every country made their own action thriller of this magnitude. promote a global cultural exchange in the form of one dude beating the shit out of several other dudes."

"#MonkeyMan was an incredible film! Pulse-pounding action and full of emotion! Everything Dev had to go through as a producer/writer/director/actor (literal, blood, tears, & etc) to get this film made makes it that more special! He knocked it out of the park! #MonkeyManMovie," mentioned another netizen.

However, a netizen also criticised the film for being a bit slow-paced. The user said while Dev Patel excels as an action star in the film, he doesn't do justice as a director.

      More about 'Monkey Man'

A revenge drama to its core, 'Monkey Man' follows the life of a young man who struggles to make ends meet in an underground fight club. Night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he's beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.
