Matt LeBlanc pays heartbreaking tribute to ‘Friends’ co-star Matthew Perry: ‘I will never forget you’

Matt LeBlanc, who shared the screen with Matthew Perry in the popular TV series ‘Friends’, took to social media to honour his on-screen roommate and best friend of a decade after his death.

In an emotional tribute on Instagram, he wrote, ‘Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend.’

‘I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love,’ he added.

He finally concluded his post with proof of wit and humour shared between their screen characters, ‘And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.’

His followers felt his pain as they commented on his heartbreaking tribute.

‘[Spread your wings and fly, brother, you are finally free.] This is the saddest sentence you can say when mourning your brother’, a fan replied.

Matthew Perry's funeral was held last week and the entire ‘Friends’ cast was present there to pay their last tributes.

They collectively released a statement expressing their sorrow after losing a friend.

‘We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss,’ their statement read.

‘In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,’ the statement continued.

ABOUT MATTHEW PERRY’S DEATH

Matthew Perry died on October 28 by apparent drowning. He was found dead in the hot tub of his home in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood just after 4 PM.

After the autopsy report was inconclusive his death certificate has ‘deferred’, in the space next to the cause of death. The toxicology report results are yet to come.
