Ke Huy Quan becomes first Asian male film winner at SAG awards: ‘This Moment belongs to..’

Ke Huy Quan made history as he became the first Asian male to win a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. He bagged the award for his role in ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’.

In his speech, Quan said, ‘This is a really emotional moment for me. Recently, I was told that if I would win tonight, I would become the very first Asian actor to win in this category. When I heard this, I quickly realized that this moment no longer belongs to just me. It also belongs to everyone who has asked for change.’

He added, ‘When I stepped away from acting, it’s because there were so few opportunities. The landscape looks so different now than before. So, thank you so much to all of you in this room and everyone who contributed to these changes.’

He then went on to thank his co-stars Michelle Yeoh, and Jamie Lee Curtis, who won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.
