Jeffery Epstein case: UK police won’t act against Prince Andrew over sexual abuse claim

British police have said that they will not be taking any further action against Prince Andrew after a review prompted by Virginia Giuffre, who claims that he sexually assaulted her. The UK police decided to drop their investigation, after reviewing several documents, including one relating to an ongoing US civil lawsuit concerning Virginia Giuffre.

Giuffre claims that she was trafficked by Jeffery Epstein to have sex with Prince Andrew in London in 2001 when she was aged 17. She is suing the prince in a US court.

The lawsuit accuses Andrew of sexually abusing Giuffre at the home of Epstein aide and socialite Ghislaine Maxwell in London. A photo of Andrew with an arm around Giuffre’s waist said to have been taken at Maxwell's home has been in the public domain for months.

Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein killed himself in a federal detention center in New York in August 2019, while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Ghislaine Maxwell, who faces trial in November, has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges.

Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, has “absolutely and categorically” denied having sex with Giuffre. Buckingham Palace has echoed the claims, calling all allegations “false and without foundation”.

The 61-year-old Prince has been banished from public royal duties amid the scandal over his friendship with Epstein and must file responses to these claims by Oct. 29
