Ewan McGregor Receives His Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame | Watch

Ewan McGregor is now part of Hollywood Boulevard's star-studded lineup.

The Scottish actor, 53, received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, September 12, at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard, just a few feet away from fellow ‘Star Wars’ icon Carrie Fisher's star.

During his speech, McGregor said, ‘All my life, since I was just a little boy I wanted to be an actor. I feel like that's what I was meant to do. And I'm so blessed to be able to do it. I'm so blessed to be able to live a creative life. Because every because every day I get to work, I turn up and I get to I get to create stories with all these amazingly creative people.’

He added, ‘I used to sit and watch when I was a child on a Sunday or Saturday afternoon with my chin propped up on my elbows. And I hunger for old Hollywood movies of the 40s and the 30s and British movies, Ealing comedies. Just anything. Always I wanted movies in my life more than I wanted kid shows or anything like that from a really young age. And I'm just so happy to be part of the world. I'm happy to be a creative person, happy to be an artist. And I love it very much. And I love you all very much, too.’

McGregor also expressed his joy about the star's placement, telling PEOPLE, ‘That means the world to me. I was so fortunate to know Carrie.’

He recalled meeting Fisher, who passed away in 2016, at a Malibu party and admiring her from a young age.

‘We clicked instantly, and she made me laugh so much,’ he reminisced.

‘We cohosted fundraisers at her house, and she made me weep with laughter. I miss her dearly, and it's wonderful that our stars are so close together,’ he added.

Fisher’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was commemorated posthumously on May 4, 2023. Other ‘Star Wars’ stars, including those of Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, are also located on the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
