Eva Mendes on why she gave up acting after kids with Ryan Gosling: 'A non-verbal agreement'

Eva Mendes recently opened up about giving up on her flourishing acting career to be a full-time mom to her and partner Ryan Gosling's two daughters. In an interview with NBC's Today Show, the 'Hitch' actor revealed why she gave up on acting after the birth of their kids.

Eva said it was a 'no-brainer' for her to quit acting after the birth of their daughters because the job would separate her from her family. “It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, 'Ok, he's going to work, and I'm going to work. I'm just going to work here. He went, and he did his job. He just happens to be really good at his job. And he did it, and he came home,” she said.

'There is only one Ryan'

Mendes also opened up about meeting Gosling for the first time and said that she has been in awe of him ever since she shared the screen space with the 'Barbie' actor in the 2012 epic crime drama 'The Place Beyond the Pines. “I have never experienced anything like that. The way he works, his commitment to his craft, and how he wants to make everything as good as it can be—that means making his co-stars as good as they can be. But unfortunately—or, fortunately—there is only one Ryan,” she added.

Ryan and Eva began dating in 2011. Though they have kept the intimate aspects of their relationship and family life away from the spotlight, they often turn cheerleaders for each other via social media posts, speeches, and interviews.
