Drake announces break from music hours after releasing new album ‘For All the Dogs’; here’s why

Canadian rapper and singer Drake, who released his eighth full-length studio album ‘For All the Dogs’ on October 6, announced that he will be taking a year’s break from music to focus on his health.

In his SiriusXM show ‘Table for One’ he said, ‘I need to focus on my health, first and foremost.’

The singer has been facing gastrointestinal issues for years now.

‘I've been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach,’ he shared.
‘I'ma lock the door on the studio for a little bit. Maybe a year or something ... maybe a little longer,’ added the 36-year-old singer.

Drake’s album release

Drake took to his Instagram account 'champagnepapi' to share the news of his album's release with his fans. Sharing a picture of himself, the singer with 143M followers captioned, ‘FOR ALL THE DOGS IS YOURS NOW’.

The post has received 2.3 million likes and about 151 people have commented on it expressing their excitement.

Drake’s scheduled performances

Drake is scheduled to perform concerts in Toronto, his hometown, on October 6th and 7th night.

Shows scheduled for after then have been postponed, according to the tour section of his website.

He had been due to perform in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville and Columbus, Ohio.
Other musicians who took a break

Drake joins several musicians who have recently taken a break citing health issues.

In July, Madonna announced that she was pushing back her tour by three months after being taken to hospital with a serious bacterial infection the month earlier.

Last month, Bruce Springsteen announced that he was postponing his September tour dates due to a peptic ulcer, which is a type of sore in the stomach lining or small intestine.
