Donald Glover delays the rest of Childish Gambino’s North American farewell tour due to health reasons

Donald Glover took to social media on September 9 to announce that he is postponing the rest of his North American Childish Gambino tour due to health concerns.

He assured fans that all tickets will be honoured when the dates are rescheduled.

Glover, performing as Childish Gambino, stated that he needs to cancel the remaining dates of his New World tour to prioritize his physical health for a few weeks.

The tour had about a month left, with the next show set for Austin, Texas, on September 10 and continuing through October 3.

In his announcement, Glover thanked fans for their privacy, support, and love.

Donald Glover wrote, ‘Hey everyone, I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks. Please hold onto your tickets—ALL tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Thanks for the privacy, support, and love.’

No additional details were given, and a representative for Glover did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for further information.

At the time of the announcement, the North American tour had a month remaining, with the next stop in Austin, Texas, on September 10. The tour was set to continue through the West Coast and Midwest, concluding in Chicago on October 3. It is expected that the rescheduled dates will likely be pushed to next year, given the tour’s plans to move overseas in November, starting with Europe and then New Zealand and Australia in January and February 2025.

The New World tour marks Donald Glover's final project as Childish Gambino, he revealed earlier this year. The tour features his latest album, Bando Stone and the New World.

‘It really felt like it was just done,’ he told The New York Times. ‘It wasn’t fulfilling anymore, and I realized I didn’t need to continue in this way,’ he continued.

Glover created the album alongside a new film about a musician recording on a remote island. ‘I saw a compelling journey in someone creating music without knowing its purpose,’ he said. ‘Everyone experiences that sense of wondering, ‘What is any of this for?’—not just artists.’
