Disney responds to Peter Dinklage's jibe on 'Snow White' remake

Entertainment company Disney has responded to criticism of its forthcoming live-action adaptation of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' made by 'Game of Thrones' star Peter Dinklage.

He had said that the remake based on a story from the Brothers Grimm, was ‘backward’ adding that Disney should have reassessed the project.

In a statement, Disney said the live-action remake will be an updated version of the original 1937 film. The company added that it will ‘avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film’.

Disney said that they will take a different approach with the seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.

The live-action ‘Snow White’ film is being directed by Marc Webb, best known for helming ‘500 Days of Summer’.

‘West Side Story’ breakout star Rachel Zegler will play the titular role, while Gal Gadot has been brought on board as the villainous Evil Queen.
