Critics Choice Awards 2024: Robert Downey Jr leaves audience in splits; here's what ‘Iron Man’ said

Critics Choice Awards 2024 kept everyone hooked. The love from theatres translated into awards for ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ at the event with Hollywood A-listers marking their presence. ‘Iron man’ Rober Downey Jr captivated the attention of the audience at the awards event as he left them in splits during his acceptance speech.

Rober Downey Jr, who won the Best Supporting Actor award for the film ‘Oppenheimer’, took the opportunity to include some of the comments and critical reviews in his speech that he has received over the years.

The actor picked up bits from the comments and read them out for the audience. ‘Avengers’ actor read, “Sloppy, messy and lazy” as he called the comment ‘kinda like haiku’. Sharing another comment, Downey Jr read, “Like Pee-wee Herman emerging from a coma.” Mentioning another comment from a Brit, he read, “A puzzling waste of talent”. The audience couldn’t help but laugh when the actor read the last comment, “Amusing as a bed-locked fart.”

The ‘Iron Man’ actor won the prestigious award for his role in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ against the likes of Robert De Niro, Ryan Gosling, Mark Ruffalo, Sterling K Brown, and Charles Melton in the same category.

This comes a week after Downey Jr won at the Golden Globe Awards 2024.

Beloved of the ‘Avengers’ fan, Robert Downey Jr earlier won the Best Actor award for ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Iron Man 3’ for playing the role of Tony Stark. The actor now has a total of 4 Critics Choice Awards to his credit.
