Chad McQueen, son of legendary actor and race car driver Steve McQueen, has passed away at the age of 63. He was popular for his role in the 'Karate Kid' films.

His attorney and friend, Arthur H. Barens, confirmed the news of his demise to The Associated Press.

McQueen’s cause of death has not been disclosed.

He took his last breath at his Palm Desert ranch.

His family, wife Jeanie and children Chase and Madison shared the news on Instagram from McQueen’s account, expressing their grief with 'a heavy heart.'

In their statement, they said, 'His remarkable journey as a loving father to us, along with his unwavering commitment to our mother, truly exemplified a life filled with love and dedication.'

They highlighted his passion for racing, which honoured his father's legacy. 'He passed his passion, knowledge and dedication down to us and we will continue not only his legacy but our grandfathers as well'.

They have requested privacy while they 'remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.'

Although he appeared in several other films like 'New York Cop', 'Squanderers', and 'Red Line', McQueen chose to focus more on racing later in his career. He founded 'McQueen Racing', which creates custom cars, motorcycles, and accessories. His son, Chase, and daughter Madison now run the company.

In a 2005 interview, he revealed, 'I didn’t find acting fun anymore, so I decided to give racing a total commitment.' He competed in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona but faced numerous injuries. McQueen also produced two documentaries about his father, 'I Am Steve McQueen' and 'Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans.'
