Beyonce was a shy child! On her birthday let's take a look at star's unknown facts

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles is the most-nominated woman in Grammy history. She has won 79 nominations so far. Beyonce first gained recognition as a member of the girl's group, Destiny’s Child. Born in Houstan on September 4, 1981, the singing sensation is known for her women empowering songs. Fondly known as Bey-Queen, she is known to set major style goals as she leaves the audience mesmerised with her special outfits. Millions of fans are always waiting for her new releases and also inquisitive about her private life. On her birthday, let’s take a look at some of the unknown facts of the singer.

1. Beyonce carries her maternal family name.
The popular artist’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson born as Celestine Beyoncé, always wanted to carry forward her maiden name to her future generations. According to a Vogue report, at the premiere of her 'Life Is But A Dream' documentary, her brother told, ‘My sister Tina [Knowles] didn’t think we had enough boys in the family to keep the [Beyoncé] name going. So, she gave Beyoncé our last name as the first name,' he said.

2. Who would believe young Beyonce was very shy. But all thanks to her dance teacher, Darlette Johnson, who encouraged her to participate in a school event. In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stones, Beyonce said that she was just 7 by then. ‘I was terrified and I didn’t want to do it, and she’s like, ‘C’mon, baby, get out there,’ she recalled. ‘I remember walking out and I was scared, but when the music started, I don’t know what happened. I just… changed.’ She said it was then that she realised she wanted to be a singer.

3. The popular singer has donated her Cadillac Records salary to an addiction centre
Vogue reports, in the 2008 film, the singer portrayed the role of legendary blues and jazz artist Etta James, who suffered from heroin addiction during the 1970’s and was continuously in and out of rehab during that time. According to the report, in order to prepare for her role, she met women undergoing treatment and realised everyone has their own struggles in life. Bey reportedly opened an eponymous cosmetology centre at Phoenix House, a rehab facility in Brooklyn in the year 2010.

4. Beyonce secretly married Jay Z in April 2008
According to a Pinkvilla report, Beyoncé and Jay were seen collecting their marriage certificate in April, 2008 and then it came into notice that the couple had secretly tied the knot on April 4 that year.

5. The star owns two beehives and is appropriately known as Queen Bey
In her December 2020 cover interview with British Vogue, she said ‘I know it’s random, but I have two beehives. Real ones.’ She added, ‘I have around 80,000 bees and we make hundreds of jars of honey a year. I started the beehives because my daughters, Blue and Rumi, both have terrible allergies, and honey has countless healing properties.’

The singer recently was in talks for her latest release ‘Renaissance.’ As per a statement released on her website, Beyoncé described the new album as ‘a beautiful journey of exploration’ and ‘a place to scream, release, feel freedom.’
