A Virginia judge rejected Amber Heard's demand for a new trial in the defamation case against her former husband Johnny Depp on Wednesday. The 'Aquaman' actor's lawyers in their argument asked the judge to set aside the verdict awarding $10 million to Depp and declare a mistrial.

The lawyers argued that one of the jurors should not have been eligible to serve as his summons was intended for his father, who had the same name and lived at the same address. However, the judge ruled that there was 'no evidence of fraud or wrongdoing' by the juror and the verdict should stand.

'Due process was guaranteed and provided to all parties in this litigation,' judge Penny Azcarate wrote.

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard stating she defamed him when she described herself as a 'public figure representing domestic abuse' in a Washington Post op-ed. In June, the seven-member jury awarded damages to Depp after finding that the article penned by Heard was defamatory.

Heard countersued Depp, saying he tarnished her image when his lawyer called her accusations a 'hoax.' She was awarded $2 million in damages on one of her counterclaims by the jury.
