Grammy Awards 2023: Bengaluru-based composer Ricky Kej wins 3rd Grammy, dedicates award to India

Bengaluru-based composer Ricky Kej won a Grammy for Best Immersive Audio Album for his album ‘Divine Tides’. He shared the award Stewart Copeland, the drummer of the iconic British rock band ‘The Police’, who collaborated with him on the album. Kej is the only Indian to win three Grammy awards. He has previously won two Grammy Awards under the Best New Age Album category — in 2015 for his album ‘Winds of Samsara’, and in 2022 for his album ‘Divine Tides’.

Other nominees in the category were: Christina Aguilera (Aguilera), The Chainsmokers (Memories… Do Not Open), Jane Irabloom (Picturing The Invisible- Focus 1), and Nidarosdomens Jentekor & Trondeheimsolistene (Tuvahyun – Beatitudes for a Wounded World).

Ricky Kej is the youngest person from India to have won a Grammy Award, and only the 4th Indian.
