In 2021, the film industry limped back to normalcy after a 2-year Covid-induced lockdown, treading cautiously as fans slowly started returning to the cinema halls.
But 2022 promises to be a fun time at the cinemas with back-to-back big-ticket releases from Bollywood. Here are the big films that will release in 2022, which will keep cine-buffs wanting for more.

RRR | January 7, 2022
'RRR', directed by SS Rajamouli, is touted to be the next 'Baahubali'. The film stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR ,Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, and Shriya Saran in key roles. The film is being billed as the biggest action-drama to date and the makers of the film are leaving no stone unturned to promote the movie in India as well as abroad. ‘RRR’ is a fictional story about two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad.

Prithviraj | January 21, 2022
'Prithviraj' is a period drama starring Bollywood's most bankable star Akshay Kumar, and is based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan. Akshay will be essaying the role of the valiant warrior who took on invader Muhammad of Ghor. Prithviraj also marks the debut of Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, who will be playing the role of Prithviraj Chauhan's beloved Sanyogita. Sanjay Dutt, & Sonu Sood will also be seen playing major characters in the film.

Shabaash Mithu | February 4, 2022
In 'Shabaash Mithu', Taapsee Pannu will be once again seen portraying the role of a fierce athlete. This awe-inspiring sports drama is based on the life of Indian cricketer Mithali Raj who defied all stereotypes and made India proud. 'Shabaash Mithu' is directed by Srijit Mukherjee.

Laal Singh Chaddha | April 29, 2022
'Lal Singh Chadha' is one of 2022's most-anticipated Bollywood films, which boasts of big stars like Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film is the official Hindi remake of cult Hollywood film 'Forrest Gump' starring Tom Hanks.

KGF Chapter 2 | April 14, 2022
'KGF Chapter 2' is directed by Prashanth Neel, and is a sequel to 2018 superhit K.G.F: Chapter 1. The film stars South superstar Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj. While Sanjay Dutt will be seen essaying the role of villain Adheera, Raveena will play the role of Ramika Sen, which also has grey shades.

Adipurush | August 11, 2022
Filmmaker Om Raut will be back with his multilingual magnum opus, 'Adipurush' next year. The film is an adaptation of the Ramayana. South sensation Prabhas will step into Ram's shoes, while Saif Ali Khan will play Lankesh aka Raavan. Kriti Sanon plays Janaki aka Sita in the film.

Brahmastra | 2022
Ayan Mukerji's film 'Brahmastra' has kept fans hooked for quite a while, as they are eagerly awaiting its release. Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, 'Brahmastra' is a sci-fi trilogy which began filming in 2018 but got delayed due to the pandemic. The film boasts of a mega star cast including actors Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, which makes it one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of 2022.

Vikram Vedha | September 30, 2022
Actor Hrithik Roshan will be seen opposite actor Saif Ali Khan for the first time on screen in 'Vikram Vedha'. The film is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film that starred actors Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The film is currently under production and is being helmed by the original writers and directors, Pushkar and Gayatri. Touted to be a cult classic, Vikram Vedha is a neo-noir action thriller based on the folk tale 'Vikram Aur Betaal'. The film tells the story of a tough police officer who sets out to track down and kill an equally tough gangster.

Ram Setu | October 24, 2022
'Ram Setu' is another ambitious project starring Akshay Kumar. The film is directed by Abhishek Sharma who is known for films like Tere Bin Laden, The Zoya Factor and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari. It is an action-packed drama that tells a story rooted in Indian culture and heritage. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.

Yodha | November 11, 2022
After winning hearts of fans with his remarkable performance in 'Shershaah', actor Siddharth Malhotra will be back with a bang in a new action thriller. 'Yodha' will be the first film of Dharma Production's action franchise. 'Yodha' is directed by the dynamic duo – Sagar Ambre & Pushkar Ojha.
