Virat Kohli withdraws from first 2 tests against England. Is Anushka's pregnancy the reason?

Virat Kohli has withdrawn from the first two Test matches against England. These first two matches will be played between January 25-29 and February 2-6. The Indian cricketer has cited personal reasons behind his decision, fuelling speculations on social media.

BCCI’s statement

BCCI has announced the news of Virat withdrawing on their official X handle. The apex cricket body also put out a detailed statement on the same. In the statement, BCCI said, “Mr. Virat Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England, citing personal reasons.” The statement further mentioned that “while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.”

Virat-Anushka expecting second child?

Fans are wondering whether Anushka’s pregnancy is a possible reason behind Virat’s withdrawal. Reports had emerged on social media that power couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child this year, however, neither Virat nor Anushka has confirmed the news of pregnancy yet.

India’s star cricketer got married to Bollywood actor in 2017. The couple was blessed with a girl child named Vamika in 2021. While Anushka is often seen supporting her husband during his cricket matches, Virat does not hesitate to express his feelings or support his wife publicly.
