Vikram Gokhale's family refutes death news, says he's still critical and on ventilator

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale is admitted at Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune. Last night, news of his demise had surfaced online and many celebrities like Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur had expressed condolences. However, his wife Vrushali has refuted these reports and said that he's still alive.

She said he slipped into coma yesterday afternoon and post that he hasn't responded to touch. She added that he's on a ventilator and doctors will decide what to do depending on whether his condition is improving, sinking or still not responding.

Mrs Gokhale also revealed that her husband has been in the hospital since November 5 and he has a host of issues like in heart and kidney. She said at the moment he had a multiple organ failure.

His wife further said that Vikram is 77 and not 82 as being reported.

Vrushali also informed that her daughter from San Fransico has arrived and the other one, who resides in Mumbai, is with her in Pune.

Vikram Gokhale decided to stay in Pune and rarely went to Mumbai in the past two years

Vikram Gokhale has delivered some powerful performances in Hindi and Marathi films. He is best known for his work in films like 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', 'Hey Ram', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' and 'Mission Mangal' to name a few. In 2010, Vikram Gokhale won a National Award for Best Actor for Marathi film 'Aaghaat'.

He was last seen in 'Nikamma', starring Shilpa Shetty and Abhimanyu Desai.
