Triptii Dimri claps back at trolls for ‘Mere Mehboob’ dance: ‘can't be good at everything’

After impressing fans with her performance in ‘Bad Newz’, Triptii Dimri is gearing up for her next film, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’. Last week, the makers released the song ‘Mere Mehboob’, featuring Triptii dancing to a catchy tune. She faced backlash on social media for her sensual dance moves, with some users calling it ‘cringe’ and ‘embarrassing.’

Now, responding to the criticism, the actor acknowledged that she didn’t anticipate such a negative reaction from the audience.

She told The Hollywood Reporter India, ‘I felt I had to try everything. It was my first dance number, and I didn't expect this reaction. But it’s okay; people like some things and don’t like others. That doesn’t mean you stop experimenting or you stop doing what you want to do. You can't stop yourself. You have to look straight and just keep doing what you love. If you start thinking about what people are going to say and how people are going to perceive this, then you won't be honest to what you are doing.’

Triptii Dimri also reflected on her journey as an actor, emphasizing the importance of expanding her skill set. She shared, ‘As an actor, I’m exploring different things. Initially, I believed just knowing how to act was enough, but reality hit when I realized you need more. If you're offered a show, you should know how to walk properly, and if you get a dance number, you should be able to dance well.’

The song ‘Mere Mehboob’, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, features Triptii Dimri performing pelvic thrusts while lying on the floor.

‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’, starring Rajkummar Rao, has been directed by Raaj Shaandilya. The comedy revolves around a lost sex tape of a newly-married couple from the '90s. The film also features Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, Rakesh Bedi, Archana Puran Singh, Tiku Talsania, and Mukesh Tiwari. It’s slated for release on October 11.

‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ will compete at the box office with Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina's ‘Jigra’.
