'Thank God' makers try to evade controversy, Chitragupt's name changed to CG

Ajay Devgn and Siddharth Malhotra starrer 'Thank God' is all set to release in theatres on October 25 and the makers are trying their best to stay away from controversy. Ajay Devgn is portarying the role of Chitragupt and his character's name has now changed to CG and Yamdoot’s name to YD. Along with this, there were three other changes made in the film before submitting it to the censor board.

According to Hindustan Times, One of the scenes has been modified to blur the logo of the liquor brand, the camera angle in which a temple is showcased has been modified. There is modification in disclaimer’s content as well, which comes at the beginning of the film. To make it easier for the audience to look into it and read it, the duration of opening credits has increased.

Ahead of its release, the movie has faced a lot of backlash from a section of netizens, who objected the use of Chitragupta’s name in the movie. In Hindu mythology, Chitragupta is the deity of records and accounts, as it has been shown in the film as well. It seems that the makers are trying to evade controversy and take a safer route. A plea was filed in the Supreme Court to stay the release of the film. The apex court refused to list it on urgent notice and the matter will be heard on November 21.

'Thank God' also stars Rakul Preet Singh in a pivotal role. The film will clash at the box office with Akshay Kumar’s action adventure film 'Ram Setu'.
