Tanushree Dutta reacts to Sajid Khan's entry in ‘Bigg Boss 16’, says 'I am appalled'

Sajid Khan has become 'Bigg Boss 16’s most controversial contestant. The filmmaker has been accused of sexual misconduct by many women during the #MeToo movement. Tanushree Dutta's revelations were one of the major reasons for the #MeToo movement to start in India in 2018. In a new interview, the actor has expressed her disappointment on Sajid’s participation in ‘BB16’.

Speaking with ETimes, she said that she is ‘appalled’ by the participation of Sajid Khan in the latest season of celebrity reality show ‘Bigg Boss’. ‘I am appalled too. I am speechless at the sheer irresponsibility of this action and the impact it would have on the public. I don’t watch Bigg Boss and I think I ever will after this,’ the actor said.

She also talked about the #MeToo movement in Bollywood and said, ‘The #MeToo movement was an iconic phenomenon in India, given the culture of silence and secrecy in India about sexual harassment. Being a modern, Indian American girl, I always found it hard to understand why this kind of silence is encouraged at the cost of a rotting ecosystem. I mean, if people get punished for bad behaviour, only then will the communities remain safe.’

Tanushree also opened up on the powers of Bollywood and said that they have tried to sabotage her comeback, but she's keeping her chin up and hopes alive. ‘There were defamation cases filed against me in 2018 by a few people I called out,’ she said.
