Sushmita Sen shares the Preamble of the Indian Constitution after Ayodhya Ram Temple inauguration

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha ceremony, a few Indian film industry celebrities took to social media to share the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. This was perceived as a form of criticism against the government-sponsored celebration, suggesting it contradicts the country's secular values.

Actor Sushmita Sen showed her support for secularism by sharing writer-director Atul Mongia's Instagram post featuring the Indian Constitution's Preamble. Sen captioned the post with ‘#Motherland.’

The Constitution’s Preamble reads as, ‘We the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India a into a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic, Republic and to secure to all its citizens: Justice, social, economic and political; Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; Equality of status and of opportunity and to promote among them all; Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation; in our Constituent Assembly, this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949 do Hereby Adopt, Enact and give to ourselves this Constitution.’

Many well-known actors, directors, and singers from the Malayalam film industry, like Parvathy Thiruvothu, Rima Kallingal, and others, shared pictures of the Constitution's Preamble on social media to support secularism. Some of them faced trolling with people commenting ‘Jai Shri Ram.’

Several famous film stars attended the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya, including Ram Charan, Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and many more.

Sushmita’s work front

Sushmita was last seen in the web series ‘Taali’ in which she portrayed the role of Shreegauri Sawant aka Gauri Sawant, a transgender activist from Mumbai.

She will next be seen in the second part of ‘Aarya’s third season which will stream from Feb 9 only on Disney Plus Hotstar.
