Shraddha Kapoor summoned by ED in Mahadev betting app case: Report

Actor Shraddha Kapoor has reportedly been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. The actor is expected to appear before the ED on October 6.

Shraddha promoted the app and the agency suspects that the payment she received for it might be from the proceeds of a crime.

Other celebs summoned by ED

A day earlier, comedian Kapil Sharma, Hina Khan, and Huma Qureshi were also summoned by the ED in connection with their reported involvement in promoting the betting app Mahadev.

Apart from this, celebrities who attended the lavish Dubai wedding of one of the app's promoters, Sourabh Chandrakar, will also be questioned. Social media influencers who promoted the app might also be summoned.

Shraddha’s ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ co-star Ranbir Kapoor, who has also been summoned in the case, has sought two weeks’ time to appear before the probe agency.

ED sources said that these celebrities are not accused in the case but will be questioned to see what they know of the mode and flow of payments made to them by the app’s founders.

According to the ED, the Mahadev betting app promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal laundered money through a layered web of benami bank accounts. Large-scale hawala operations were carried out to siphon off the proceeds of betting to offshore accounts.

On the work front, Shraddha Kapoor will next be seen in ‘Stree 2’ with Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana.
