Sharmaji Namkeen trailer: Rishi Kapoor's last film is a bittersweet, heartfelt story

The trailer of 'Sharmaji Namkeen', starring the late Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal playing the titular character, has been released. Rishi Kapoor’s last film promises to be a sweet and wholesome affair that tells the relatable story of self-realization and discovery of a retired widower who takes up various chores to keep himself busy and avoid loneliness. Though after much trial and error, joy finally enters his life as he discovers a passion for cooking after joining a women’s kitty group. However, he is confronted with various trials and tribulations, including his son’s disagreements over his methods.

The film stars an ensemble of actors including Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar.

'Sharmaji Namkeen' has two renowned actors Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal playing the same character for the first time in Hindi cinema, as Rishi Kapoor passed away before the film could be completed.

Rishi Kapoor's son, actor Ranbir Kapoor had released an emotional video for 'Sharmaji Namkeen,' saying, “The show must go on, you all have heard it, but I have watched my father live it”.

'Sharmaji Namkeen' has been directed by Hitesh Bhatia and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment in collaboration with Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey of MacGuffin Pictures. The film will premiere on Aamzon Prime Video on March 31.
